The Advance Paris Xl500 is based on three completely separate volumes that each independently support bass, midrange and treble. These volumes are shifted on the same vertical plane to maintain the correct time phase.
The applied solution is interesting insofar as it avoids the integration of phase correction circuits in the filtering. Also, by isolating each speaker in an independent box, the transfer of vibrations from one speaker to another is non-existent. The sound reproduction remains clear at all frequencies.
Making such a speaker requires careful manufacturing and a selection of raw materials that only a few cabinetmakers can handle. Composed of structural panels of wood powder bonded with synthetic adhesive, these are characterized by a homogeneity in the 3 dimensions and provide superior acoustic performance over traditional solutions. Finally, each cabinet undergoes a careful individual check of tightness. For acoustic damping, damping material specially developed to effectively treat standing waves is used.
The speakers in the XL-500 have been developed specifically to meet the strict specifications required for an authoritative hi-fi experience. The 12"/307mm woofer is equipped with a 49.5mm voice coil that provides a magnetic field of 1.8 to 2T allowing dynamics and speed adapted to all types of music. The woofers have a high density cone made of linen paper which is protected of a protective film, so the requirement of lightness and rigidity is achieved.
The high-frequency reproduction is provided by a powerful ribbon tweeter that provides a detailed reproduction in the treble register without any harshness. Transparency, airiness and clarity are in focus.
Advance Paris has developed a precise and rigorous filtering technology that respects the electrical and acoustic phase. The choice of the best components, air chokes, polypropylene capacitors, precision ceramic resistors, non-radiating placement of the components, and ideal crossover frequencies.
