HD Fury - 8K Arcana 2 VRR 40Gbps
HD Fury 8K Arcana 2 VRR 40Gbps is a groundbreaking HDMI adapter and splitter that revolutionizes how you handle video and audio signals in your home theater system. As the world's first 40Gbps VRR splitter, passthrough, upscaler, or downscaler up to 120Hz, it fully extracts audio from any HDMI source and delivers it to any audio system with the best possible formats. This device is designed to solve compatibility issues between HDMI sources, displays, and audio systems, including support for eARC/ARC and HDMI audio extraction. It supports all existing video and audio signals, such as VRR, Dolby Vision (DV), Low Latency Dolby Vision (LLDV), HLG, HDR10+, DTS:X, Dolby Atmos, and much more. Whether you are a home theater enthusiast, gamer, or professional installer, the 8K Arcana 2 always guarantees the best video quality to your screen and the best audio to your sound system.
- Downscaling and upscaling of signals: Handle all FRL or TMDS signals with downscaling such as 8K to 4K, 4K to 2K, or 8K to 2K up to 120Hz. Upscaling includes 2K to 4K, 4K to 8K, and 2K to 8K up to 120Hz (no upscaling for VRR, 1080i, 720p, or 480i/p).
- Support for VRR and HDMI 2.1: Unlock true FRL/VRR on models like Samsung Q90/QN900/QN95. Pass all FRL/VRR signals and downscale secondary output for Philips Hue Sync or similar.
- Highest resolutions and bandwidth: Up to 8K60 4:4:4/RGB 12-bit via DSC at 96Gbps, with full HDMI 2.1 passthrough up to FRL5: 40Gbps/1200MHz.
- Full audio extraction: Fully extract audio up to Dolby Atmos/TrueHD from any HDMI source (including VRR signals) to any HDMI, ARC, or eARC audio system, such as SONOS Arc & Beam 2.
- Compatibility and solutions: Play Xbox One X games in 4K120 Dolby Vision on LG C9, BX, or Sony HDMI 2.1 TV. Solve lip sync issues with SONOS Arc/Beam 2 and external HDMI sources connected to eARC TV. Allow DTS audio from the source to the audio system even if your TV does not support it.
- CEC control: Full CEC control from TV to source, volume control from source to eARC/HDMI audio system, and from TV to ARC/eARC system. Works with TV remote or source remote.
- ARC/eARC handling: Retrieve ARC/eARC from TV input to any ARC or eARC audio system.
- Support for gaming and variable refresh rates: Handles 1080p120, 1440p120, 4K120, and all VRR signals from Xbox Series X, PS5, GPUs, and more.
- Dolby Vision conversion: Allow playback of DV content from LLDV-capable sources on any HDR10 display for improved picture quality.
- HDCP conversion: Convert HDCP 2.3 to 1.4.
- Signal modification: Change chroma, color space, and color depth as needed. Increase or decrease nits values in HDR metadata in real time during HDR playback.
- Display and control: Live signal information on OSD (On Screen Display) and OLED screen. Navigate menus with rotary switch. USB Type-C for power, USB Type-A for updates via USB stick, and RS232 for integration (not necessary for regular users).
How does it work?
8K Arcana 2 VRR is a smart converter for interoperability between HDMI sources (such as FUHD sources, Blu-ray players, UHD Blu-ray, media players, satellite receivers, game consoles, PCs, etc.) and displays or audio systems. Hardware-wise, it has 1 HDMI input, 2 HDMI outputs with scaling options, 1 eARC output, USB-A for updates, USB-C for power, RS232, OLED screen, and a rotary switch for menu management. The input handles 4K and 8K VRR/HDR/HLG/DV/LLDV/HDR10+ up to FRL5/40Gbps/1200MHz for video, and all audio formats available today. HDMI TX0 and HDMI COPY outputs support FRL5/VRR/40Gbps/1200MHz, upscaling/downscaling, and all audio formats.
The device runs in standard mode as splitter/passthrough/upscaler or downscaler to optimize your system. The unique HDMI COPY output is versatile and can be configured for:
- a) Splitting 2 signals up to FRL5 to 2 displays.
- b) Passing one signal up to FRL5, downscaling the other to TMDS for 4K FRL to 2K TMDS.
- c) Passing one signal up to FRL5, keeping 4K and adjusting chroma/color depth for 4K FRL to 4K TMDS.
- d) Passing one signal up to FRL5, fully extracting audio via generated stream to feed a 1080p AVR.
Software-wise, EDID manages the best possible mix of TV video and audio capabilities (e.g., SONOS Arc). It performs HDCP conversion, upscaling/downscaling, signal operations like chroma/color depth/color space, HDR metadata handling, VRR, and audio extraction. It also allows DV playback from LLDV sources to HDR10 displays and real-time adjustment of HDR nits. All signal information is clearly displayed via OLED or OSD.
This device is ideal for content creators, calibrators, streamers, digital entertainment centers, FUHD TVs, UHDTV stores, data centers, schools, conference rooms, or home theaters.
Getting started – Installation
One source + eARC: Connect the HDMI output from your source to the 8K Arcana 2's HDMI input. Connect Arcana's HDMI output to any projector, monitor, or display. Connect the eARC output to SONOS Arc or similar. If your display has ARC/eARC input, you can retrieve TV audio from it. This provides full audio up to Atmos/TrueHD from the HDMI source, eARC signal for TV audio, and CEC volume control from source or TV.
Multiple sources + eARC: Connect all sources to an HDMI switch (or receiver) and the switch's output to Arcana's HDMI input. Continue as above. Use the HDMI COPY output to split/mirror the signal, downscale VRR for Hue Sync, capture cards, lower spec displays, or as audio output for older AVR with 1080p stream and full audio.
Use HDMI cables that support 40Gbps/1200MHz from source to Arcana and Arcana to display (recommended: HD Fury, Cable Matters, Zeskit, Kabeldirekt; min 2m, max 4m copper; longer with fiber). For eARC to SONOS only ARC/eARC support is needed (like the included SONOS cable).
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What problem does it solve? eARC is an HDMI 2.1 feature for full audio up to Atmos/TrueHD, but many TVs, projectors, and monitors lack it. 8K Arcana 2 acts as an eARC TV, takes HDMI signals, and delivers full audio via eARC output.
- Can it upgrade my ARC TV to eARC? No, but it bypasses the limitation by extracting full audio from external HDMI sources.
- Does it solve lip sync issues? Yes, unlike TVs that downmix or re-encode audio with delay, Arcana optimally manages EDID to avoid lip sync issues with SONOS Arc.
- Volume control? CEC allows volume control from TV or source remote to eARC/HDMI audio system. SONOS Arc can also learn IR signals from any remote.
