The AV7706 replaces the AV7705 and has received the latest HDMI 2.1 with support for 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz passthrough. The processor can upscale 2K (1080p) or 4K to 8K internally. A passive heatsink has also been mounted on the HDMI card to keep the HDMI card cooler compared to the previous model. On the sound side, we have a big boost as the DSP now uses double SHARC 32-bit dual-core processors from Analog Devices, i.e. the same DSP circuits that are in the reference processor AV8805, which results in even better channel separation and resolution. All outputs are equipped with 32-bit AKM D/A converters.
