Sparkos Labs SS2590 Pro Single Discrete Op-Amp
SS2590 is Sparkos Labs' professional op amp for studio equipment and recording. It replaces 6-pin, 1-inch square op amps of the API 2520 and Jensen 990 type found in microphone preamps, lunchbox modules, compressors, EQs, and mixing consoles.
The design is fully discrete, with modern high-performance transistors, two-pole compensation, and 165 dB of open-loop gain at 100 Hz. This delivers an amplifier that is sonically transparent - "a piece of wire with gain" - with fast transients, low distortion, and a Class A output current of ±32 mA.
Many op amps in this class were built in the 1970s using the technology of the time. SS2590 is a modern replacement that is also unity-gain stable and can drive 75-ohm loads at full output.
NOTE! Single version
