Supra has for a couple of years developed an ultimate USB cable, the result was the USB Excalibur . Their goal was simple, to make the world's best USB cable without compromise or shortcuts.
Excalibur is a premium high-speed cable with improved data and power transfer, complementing the existing USB range. Both the data pair and the power pair are optimized for their purpose, transferring data and power respectively. The twisted data pair is made of PE-insulated silver-plated oxygen-free copper. The silver layer is very thick, 3.8% of the total area, for best conductivity and high speed factor. Silver plating makes the conductor good for high frequencies and high speed data transmission. The construction of the conductors is completely different compared to the data pair.
To minimize current losses and to maximize the wire area, four tin-plated conductors are used in a star quad configuration. Star quad twist together with the separate shields effectively reduces all RFI.
You may recognize the design of the connectors, they follow the same design concept as Supra's popular demotable HDMI connectors. The contacts are completely shielded in aluminium. The connectors are removable to allow the cable to be routed through 16mm VP tubing, only a small Phillips screwdriver is required. No advanced assembly/soldering is needed when installing in pipes, which could compromise the Supra's performance.
