At the heart of the SUB 1X12 EDGE is its 12-inch High-Speed Ultra-Long-Stroke driver, specially developed by XTZ for the Cinema series. This advanced bass driver combines an extremely light and stiff diaphragm, made from long-fiber pulp, with a powerful magnet structure. The result is a subwoofer that handles the most demanding bass impulses with surgical precision and minimal distortion, even at extreme sound levels. The diaphragm’s “soft clipping” characteristics and high sensitivity ensure that the bass remains clean and dynamic, whether it’s a subtle bass line or an explosive movie sequence.

The large excursion of the driver enables impressive sound pressure levels without compromising accuracy. Thanks to a specially designed NBR suspension (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) and an optimized enclosure volume, maximum linearity and deep bass reproduction are achieved, making the SUB 1X12 EDGE deliver both power and detail across the entire frequency range.

SUB 1X12 EDGE is powered by the advanced XTZ SA-1 amplifier, built with ICEpower® class-D technology, delivering 700 W RMS and a maximum of 1045 W. This amplifier is designed to provide superior control and dynamics, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 117 dB and nearly perfect clipping characteristics. Compared to its predecessor (XTZ 1X12), the SA-1 offers improved impulse response, higher output power, and advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for precise control over the driver’s movements. The high efficiency reduces power consumption without compromising performance, allowing the subwoofer to deliver explosive bass with maximum headroom.

Flexible sound settings for perfect customization

To ensure that the SUB 1X12 EDGE integrates perfectly into your room and matches your sound preferences, it comes with a range of advanced tuning options:

• Pre-programmed EQ modes: Choose between three modes – REF for maximum deep bass, EQ1 which filters the deepest tones to suit medium-sized rooms with high room gain, and EQ2 which boosts the kick bass for an even punchier experience.
• Parametric EQ (PEQ): Fine-tune frequencies between 30–120 Hz with a sound pressure range from -9 dB to +9 dB to compensate for room acoustics. For best results, measurement equipment like the XTZ Room Analyzer II Pro is recommended to identify and adjust room-related peaks and dips.
• Bass reflex or sealed design: The slot-shaped bass reflex port can be closed with an included foam plug, converting the subwoofer into a sealed design with even higher precision and earlier bass roll-off.

These settings, combined with the powerful DSP (50 MHz, 56-bit "Dual Precision" filter), give you full control over the sound character and ensure a tailored bass experience suitable for film, music, and gaming.

Robust and elegant cabinet

SUB 1X12 EDGE is built to withstand the most intense bass vibrations without compromising aesthetics. The cabinet is made of strong MDF with a 30 mm thick front and 40 mm wide reinforcement panels on the sides, eliminating unwanted resonances and ensuring maximum stability. The trapezoidal design reduces internal standing waves and provides a timeless, sleek appearance. An additional MDF foot under the enclosure adds extra weight and stability, while multiple layers of damping material inside absorb resonances for a stiff and vibration-free construction.

The surface is treated with eight layers of anti-reflective polyurethane lacquer, which not only protects against reflections from projectors but also provides a smooth and durable finish. The front grille is attached with hidden magnets, giving a clean and elegant look when used without the grille.

Versatile connectivity

On the back of the SUB 1X12 EDGE there is a versatile terminal supporting both RCA and XLR cables, making it compatible with most home theater systems. An XLR passthrough function makes it easy to connect additional subwoofers in a multi-subwoofer system. With adjustable crossover frequency, phase, and volume, you can fine-tune the subwoofer for optimal integration with your speakers and room acoustics.
