XTZ Cinema SUB 3X12

The XTZ Cinema SUB 3X12 is built to give you the ultimate cinema experience, not only with pure, dynamic sound but also as a physical experience. It creates an atmosphere that will blow you away! Maximum power for maximum home theater experience is the main idea behind this outstanding subwoofer. As one of the world's most powerful subwoofers for cinema/hi-fi, the 3X12 can achieve an incredibly high sound pressure level, even in the lowest frequencies. But it's not just the subwoofer's volume that's astonishing, but also how smooth it sounds and how easily this subwoofer reproduces the entire bass frequency range.

Cinema 3X12 features three advanced High-Speed ​​Ultra-Long-Stroke drivers developed by XTZ's R&D team. Thanks to their low weight and extreme rigidity, all desired impulses are delivered with maximum speed and precision. Each of the 3 drivers is powered by a Claridy Class-D amplifier with 500W RMS and 900W peak power, giving a total available power of 2700W. The Class-D amplifiers have a perfect clipping characteristic, guaranteeing maximum headroom and extreme dynamics. Deep and powerful bass has never sounded this real before.

Cinema 3X12 has several configuration options that make it possible to adapt it perfectly to the room and taste. The lower frequency limit is an incredibly deep 16 Hz. For this reason, the subwoofer is equipped with a special room-boosting EQ to reduce the influence of room modes. In addition, the bass reflex tube can be closed with the included plug. In this way, it is even possible to change the sound characteristics of the 3X12 so that it behaves like a closed subwoofer. This allows each owner to customize the 3X12 to the needs of each installation.

In order to minimize the resonances in the enclosure, a specific trapezoidal shape has been chosen for the cabinet. The outer walls are made of 25 mm deep MDF, which is reinforced with 40 mm thick stiffeners. The front wall and bottom of the case are each a total of 55mm thick. The rear-directed sound is absorbed with the help of generous amounts of insulation material. All these design elements together with the precisely dimensioned cabinet ensure that the sound of the subwoofer is precise and controlled at all sound pressure levels.

To avoid disturbing light reflections on the surface of Cinema 3X12 when using a video projector, a special anti-reflection coating is used on the front panel. This matte black special color is applied in 8 layers to give an optimal result. The sidewalls are painted with a Nextel coating that also minimizes reflections and optimizes handling of the subwoofer.

The rear terminal supports connections with either an RCA or XLR cable. An XLR output allows the XLR input signal to be forwarded, for example to a second subwoofer in multi-subwoofer configurations. Crossover frequency, phase and volume can be precisely adjusted here and Room EQ Gain can be turned on or off to adapt the sound to the room and personal preferences.

Cinema 3X12 has its own magnetic front panel for each of the three speaker elements. The black acoustic material is opaque and completely sound-permeable. It protects the speaker elements from potential damage. The XTZ Cinema logo is magnetic so it can be placed on the subwoofer where it fits best.

The 12” base element of the Cinema series is called advanced High-Speed ​​Ultra-Long-Stroke using a very light cone material and a very strong motor structure (magnet).  XTZ chooses fast and light elements to get both high speed and maximum dynamic sound. The bass elements can perform the ultra-long strokes with maximum linearity and XTZ has also developed a special NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround to complement them. The demands on the woofers mean that the boxes must be large to achieve the highest SPL even in the lowest frequencies. This is pure physics. An optimized volume for the element provides the perfect air resistance for the element. This leads to the highest SPL in low frequencies with maximum headroom from the amplifier. Boxes that are too small or too large lead to overdamped or underdamped subwoofers with increased distortion. A box with optimal volume has low distortion and the widest possible frequency range, which allows the subwoofer to deliver the lowest and deepest bass with a sound that is still clean but still has plenty of room for amplification. XTZ required their subwoofer to deliver very high sound pressure levels while still being accurate and faithful to the original music.  The XTZ met this challenge by using the specially developed long throw element with very low mass. The 12" large cone consists of a very strong, long-fiber pulp mixed material that optimizes the stiffness of the membrane in relation to the weight.

Specially developed for the Cinema subwoofers, this amplifier has an exceptionally high output power of 500 W RMS and 900 W peak power when needed. Cinema SUB 3X12 uses a Claridy monoblock for each element, giving a total power of 1500 W RMS / 2700 W Peak. Class D amplifiers operate differently than A, B or A/B amplifiers. Because class D ("switching") amplifiers can be turned on or off completely, they can dramatically increase midrange and bass output while minimizing power loss, making for a highly efficient amplifier well suited to subwoofers. It eliminates the need for large power transformers, loads of output transistors and huge heat sinks. Class D amplifiers are remarkably compact for the amount of power they produce. The technology is very efficient and a good illustration of the efficiency of Class D amplification is to imagine a chip-sized module 7.6cm wide, 12.7cm deep and only 3.8cm high, producing up to 500W while delivers 90% of the power it receives to the speakers. Class D technology is also environmentally friendly thanks to its energy efficiency. In the past, most class D amplifiers had major problems with distortion, but not anymore. Using the latest Claridy Class D amplifier technology with near-ideal clipping characteristics, we ensure maximum headroom by minimizing the use of limiting circuitry. This results in a precise sound that is noise and distortion free and a richness of detail that has never been experienced before. These achievements and the amplifier's powerful performance are the result of the many years XTZ has invested in perfecting the design.
